Anchorage
Description
Ierapetra, Crete, Greece, offers good anchorage even with strong north wind, with dinghy landing on the promenade stairs. The coast guard requests notification by VHF channel 12 even if you anchor outside the town. The harbor has stern-to and bow-to moorings with good shelter except in strong southerlies, and a light on the SE harbor wall. Night entry is not recommended due to a narrow mouth and submerged rocks. Marina Ierapetra is a working harbor with some berths and space for overnights or shelter.
