Anchorage

Description

Vathi Beach, Heraklion, Crete, Greece, lies 79 km southwest of Heraklion and 17 km southwest of Sivas, near Cape Lithino. The circular bay is hidden from the open sea, making it a natural hideout with calm waters, while southwest winds can cause storms. The beach is sandy with stones in places, shallow water, and tamarisk trees for shade, and it sits at the exit of a small gorge with long cliffs and limestone cavities. Nearby are makeshift huts, old campervans, and primitive homes used by locals from Gergeri. Nudism is not allowed due to the area’s religious history related to Odigitria Monastery.
