Anchorage

Description

Syrna bay, South Aegean, Greece, is very deep and a mooring line to shore is recommended. The uninhabited island is worth visiting if you are nearby in the Dodecanese; its highest point is a volcanic rock at 322 m. The southern side has rocky islands, including Plakida, and the island is known for volcanic rocks, Mediterranean vegetation with junipers, and bird migration. The litoral is steep; the best anchoring is on the northern side in about 8 m. The coastline is a must in meltemi. Landing is difficult due to steepness and no harbors. By day, the western side is attractive but often windy unless calm.
