Description

Polis Bay is close to the village of Stavros and 18 km north of Vathy, the capital of Ithaca. Polis is a beautiful pebbled beach with clear turquoise waters and a lack of tourist facilities that characterizes this virgin site. A vast lush green area provides natural shade, and there is a small cantine serving cold drinks. On the north side of the bay is the Loizos Cave, where excavations showed it was used as a worship temple in ancient times. Polis Bay combines a refreshing swim with an interesting visit to nearby archaeological sites.
