Description

Pera Pigadi is an isolated beach in the southeast of Ithaca with white pebbles and green shrubs that reach the sea. The rocks to the left provide shade after noon, and the beach is quiet, with few boats. You can reach it by boat, but you need your own as commercial boats do not go there. The adventurous route follows the path to Arethousa Krini from the road to Marathias, then descends to Pera Pigadi; the descent takes about 40 minutes and the climb longer, so suitable clothes, shoes, and water are needed. The beach gets its name from the Homeric Arethousa Krini, a fountain locals call Pera Pigadi. The path is clear and offers views toward Nisopoulo and the beaches below, and the Ionian Sea’s cold waters reward the hot route. Cicadas, fish, and harmless goats are common companions.
