Description

Lixouri Marina is a large harbour located in Lixouri village, the second largest community on Kefalonia Island, positioned 30 km west of Argostoli around a blue bay with views overlooking the capital. The main harbour features a small private marina situated 200 metres north, where yachts can negotiate berth availability. Marina access is from the northeast between a long detached east breakwater and a shorter south breakwater. The most likely available berthing space is on the third pontoon from the north end, equipped with several laid moorings tailed to pickup buoys. These moorings are owned and operated by the Sea Trek charter company, with occasional availability for short stays. The pontoon offers depths of 3.75 metres, with water and electricity connections available. The marina provides excellent shelter in all weather conditions. Lixouri was reportedly built on the site of the ancient city of Pali, adding historical significance to the location. The central square, Plateia Petritsi, serves as the main focal point, surrounded by traditional old-fashioned cafes that attract numerous tourists, especially during summer season. The town is recognized for its rich cultural tradition and hosts various festivals throughout the year. The area features exceptional dining options, with top-rated restaurants including Captain Nicolas, Antonello's at Xi, I Scream for Ice-Cream, Taverna Ksouras and Novita. Accommodation services are readily available and offer welcoming hospitality to visitors. Local hotels also provide guided tour services to surrounding islands. Premium accommodation options include Apollonion Resort & Spa, Petani Bay Hotel, La Cite Hotel and Hotel Summery.
