Description

Kavalliani in Central Greece is an abandoned port, quiet and little known, with an entrance depth of 2.7 meters and 3 to 4 meters inside. Kavalliani is a small uninhabited island in the South Euboean Gulf, opposite ancient Rhamnous in Attica, also named Andriani, with an area of about 2 km2. The island possibly was Glaukonisos referenced by Pliny, and wrecks have occurred nearby, including the 1947 steamship Himarra wreck southwest of Kavalliani with 385 deaths. The first owner was doctor Dimitrios Bellos, and the Bellos family still owns Kavalliani and Koukistra to the north.
