Description
Chomatistra Bay, Lassithi, Crete, Greece, lies near Cape Agios Ioannis - Aforesmenos, in a wild landscape of bare mountains, steep cliffs, and frequent strong winds. The small bay has calm water and is used by fishermen during storms in the north Cretan Sea. The beach has many rocks and pebbles, making it ideal for fishing, and it is quite isolated. A path leads to the abandoned lighthouse at Cape Aforesmenos, built in 1864. The cape name is linked to a local legend about Caiaphas.
