Description

St. George East on Ikaria, North Aegean, Greece, is a beautiful bay with good sand bottom and excellent shelter from W to NE winds. The water is clear and the surroundings are sumptuous. The Lighthouse Pope was built between 1886 and 1890, first lit in 1890, and joined the Greek lighthouse network in 1915. It was repaired after World War II and fully automated in 2000, with a focal height about 75 meters and visibility of 25 miles.
