Skopelos Marina serves as the main harbor of the island, offering a large port facility with capacity for 80 boats to moor stern-to along the long breakwater. The harbor features a mud bottom that provides excellent holding for anchored vessels. Water and electricity are available on the pier, with access chips purchasable at the kiosk. The picturesque harbor can be noisy and may develop an uncomfortable swell during meltemi (NE) winds, though it remains tenable. Hydrofoil ferries create considerable swell, making it advisable to avoid mooring in the first third of the pier and instead proceed as far as possible into the harbor basin. The waterfront is lined with tourist cafes and tavernas, while the town behind offers attractive surroundings. Mariners should exercise caution during strong NE winds (meltemi) as the sea builds up significantly, potentially making harbor entry and exit dangerous.
