Skiathos Marina is located in the southeast of Skiathos island, in the capital city of the same name. The marina has a basic infrastructure where the term 'marina' is loosely applied, consisting primarily of a floating dock that is predominantly occupied by charter companies and local boats. Guest berths are limited and require prior contact with the port agent on VHF channel 77 before attempting to dock. The marina currently offers approximately 70 berths distributed between a pontoon and a pier on the western side. An expansion project to increase capacity to 350 berths has been planned for many years but remains unimplemented. Navigation into the marina presents no significant difficulties, and the good lighting system allows for safe night-time entry. However, sailors should be aware that not all berths have mooring lines available, making it necessary to use your own anchor in many cases. An old mooring chain runs approximately 30 meters parallel to the pier, requiring careful attention during berthing. The pontoon provides electricity and water connections, though these utilities are not always operational. Water quality can be inconsistent. Access to electricity and water requires a chip card system. The marina lacks dedicated sanitary facilities, and fuel must be delivered by tanker rather than from a fixed station. The pontoon was reported to be in poor condition as of 2021. The marina environment can be challenging due to noise from surrounding taverns during evenings, morning traffic noise from the nearby road, and aircraft noise from the airport located just northeast of the port on the flight path. During the off-season, the marina is not overcrowded, offering better availability for visiting sailors. Skiathos Marina serves primarily as a functional port rather than a full-service marina facility, suitable for sailors who need basic berthing in the island's capital but should not expect premium marina amenities or services.
