Praia João de Arens (Portimão) Portimão - Portugal Anchorage in Portimão, Faro

Praia João de Arens is an oceanic beach on the coast of Portugal in the municipality of Portimão, on the Iberian Peninsula, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. It lies at the base of a cliff promontory on the west side, and locals say the name comes from a shepherd called João de Arens who lived nearby. The small-grain sand is split into two by the cliff and reconnects at low tide. On the west, a cave in the northern sand leads into a grotto, while on the east an arch in the cliff gives access to the eastern face of Ponta de João de Arens.
