Description

Port Mandraki is a town pier in Mandraki, Nisyros, South Aegean, Greece, located at coordinates 36°36'50'' N, 27°8'20'' E. This volcanic island port serves as the main gateway to Nisyros, famous for its active volcano with accessible crater. The port offers limited but free berthing with a dramatic transformation from busy day-tripper hub to peaceful evening paradise. Berthing and Facilities: Good anchorage in calm weather, with MORE BOTTOM than Paloi (better depth). The MIDDLE and RIGHT SIDE is for DAY TRIPPERS - avoid this area. Place for 3 YACHTS MAXIMUM. One can go ALONGSIDE at the pier - ASK THE LOCALS or COAST GUARD for the exact place and the TIME THAT YOU MUST LEAVE because it is used by others too. NO PORT FEES (2022) - free mooring. During the DAY there is MOVEMENT for continuous arrivals of boats coming from Kos to make the island visit in one day - expect busy conditions. In the EVENING it is a REAL PARADISE - peaceful atmosphere once day boats depart. Very close to the CHORA where there are EXCELLENT TAVERNS serving traditional Greek food and fresh fish. The volcanic island of Nisyros is a geological wonder - the volcano's crater is accessible via organized excursions from the port. The main village (Mandraki) features beautiful neoclassical architecture, the historic Monastery of Panagia Spiliani, and traditional houses with colorful balconies. ATM, car rental, markets, and restaurants available. Water and provisions in village. Phone: +30 224 203 1222. VHF channel not specified. Note: Coordinate your berth timing with local port users and be prepared to move for ferries.
