Description

Port Katapola is the main town pier in Katapola, South Aegean, Amorgos, Greece at coordinates 36.827025°N, 25.863431°E. This beautiful region divides into three settlements: Katapola, Rachidi, and Xilokeratidi. The waterfront lines with cafes, taverns, and moorings for both fishing boats and visiting sailing vessels. A small sandy beach occupies the middle of the bay, with additional beaches accessible by walking or boat. On the hill above Katapola lie excavations of the ancient city of Minoa, offering significant archaeological interest. In the small hamlet of Rachidi stands the church of Agios Georgios. Xilokeratidi, opposite the port, represents the bay's most picturesque section with pretty narrow streets and traditional taverns. Mooring advice: Anchor as far northeast as possible to allow maneuvering room for the large Blue Star ferry arriving at night. The soft mud bottom provides very good holding. The village extends a welcoming atmosphere. A bus runs hourly to the monastery. The port, though small, proves very inviting with water and electricity available on the quay. Available services include ATM, car rental, electricity, gas station, market, restaurant, water supply, and anchorage facilities. The main port combines excellent mooring conditions with access to ancient history, traditional villages, and comprehensive facilities in the Aegean region.
