Description

Paphos Port stands as one of Cyprus's most ancient harbours, where the wider archaeological site extends into the port area itself. The Paphos lighthouse is located within this archaeological zone at a relatively short distance from the harbour. Walking along the port's breakwater past the historic castle, visitors can observe the remnants of the ancient breakwater and view the exquisite Roman mosaics that characterize this historic location. The port is currently undergoing enhancements to better serve cruise traffic, with a new mooring facility being installed to improve the harbour's character and functionality. Paphos harbour operates as a small open port with limited berthing facilities. The harbour features a separate designated area for fishermen and pleasure boats, similar to the arrangement at Latchi. However, due to its limited facilities, the harbour is only recommended for very small yachts. Mariners approaching Paphos harbour should contact the harbourmaster on VHF channel 16. Future development plans include the construction of a proper marina facility located a short distance to the west of the current harbour, which will expand the port's capacity and services for visiting vessels.
