Town Pier

Description

Old Peer is a town pier in Šibenik, Opčina Šibenik, Sibenik County, Croatia, located at coordinates 43°43'28'' N, 15°51'45'' E. This free public pier provides economical berthing near the historic UNESCO city of Šibenik, though subject to ferry and cargo vessel wake disturbance due to its location on the main shipping channel approach. Berthing and Facilities: FREE OF CHARGE PIER - no mooring fees. About 50 METERS LENGTH - limited capacity. The depth AROUND 3M - adequate for most yachts but limiting for deeper-draft vessels. SWELL FROM FERRIES AND CARGOS that are going to Šibenik - expect regular wake disturbance from commercial traffic. The pier is positioned on the approach channel to Šibenik's commercial port, so passing ferries and cargo vessels create uncomfortable motion. Maintain good fender protection. Šibenik UNESCO City: Despite the swell issues, the free berthing provides budget-conscious access to magnificent Šibenik - a UNESCO World Heritage city famous for the Cathedral of St. James (15th-16th century), medieval fortresses (St. Michael's, St. John's, Barone, St. Nicholas), and beautifully preserved old town. The city is the gateway to Krka National Park (spectacular waterfalls) and the Kornati archipelago. The combination of free mooring and proximity to one of Croatia's most important historic cities makes this an attractive option despite ferry wake. The swell is uncomfortable but manageable with proper fendering. For extended stays or comfort, consider nearby Marina Mandalina or Marina Kremik, but for budget visits to explore Šibenik's treasures, this free pier is practical. VHF channel not specified. Important: Secure fenders well due to ferry/cargo wake - the swell can be significant.
