Description
Maskoula lighthouse, South Aegean, Polyaigos, Greece, was built in 1897 with oil power, a white flash every 5 seconds, and a 26 n.m. range. It was off during World War II, reopened in 1945 with oil, and in 1983 converted to supervised solar with a white flash every 5 seconds and a 19 n.m. range. The circular tower is 9 m high with a house for the lightsmen, located at the northeastern point of Maskoula with a focal height of 138 m. It can be accessed by boat from the port of Kimolos to the lighthouse beach, then a 30‑minute inaccessible path to the entrance.
