Description

Heraklion Marina is located in the historic Venetian harbor in the heart of Heraklion, Crete. The marina serves dual purposes as both an anchorage point for fishing boats and a marina for sailing vessels and yachts. Space in the Venetian port is limited, with places for 8-10 boats available outside the marina in front of the port police. The harbor can be quite busy during high season, though the addition of a floating wharf for yachts has increased accommodation capacity. The marina is home to the Heraklion Sailing and Yacht Clubs, where frequent races are held throughout the season. Heraklion Port Authority operates the fishing vessel shelter and small marina for pleasure boats and small yachts within the antique Venetian harbor. The marina layout is organized by vessel type and size. Fishing boat berths are positioned on the western side along the fortified quay. Private leisure craft and yachts up to 20 meters long have berths on the opposite side of the antique harbor, distributed across three floating docks, along the southern pier, and along the western side of the harbor's fortified entrance quay at Minor Koulé. Larger private yachts berth on the eastern side of the harbor's fortified quay. The marina is well-organized and equipped with comprehensive facilities. Most sections provide drinking water and electrical power supply. Additional amenities include parking facilities, security services, a cafe, fuel station, and slipways. Storage space is available for boat owners, and a yacht repair facility operates at Quay V for maintenance needs. One of the major advantages of Heraklion Marina is its central location. Being situated right in the heart of Heraklion means the city center and market are just a few minutes' walk away, providing convenient access to shops, restaurants, and local attractions for marina guests.
