Description

Kyllini Yacht Harbour is a small port facility in Western Greece that requires careful navigation when entering. The harbour features a dredged channel marked by buoys that must be followed closely, as the seabed rises quickly outside these markers. While the bottom consists mostly of silt, running aground is a serious concern, with port police taking strict measures and imposing costly penalties on yachts requiring assistance. The dredged channel maintains approximately 3 meters of depth, with the same depth available inside the harbour. Harbour authorities request that visiting yachts moor bows or stern-to, maximizing space for other vessels. The quay provides essential amenities including power and water connections for moored yachts. Provisioning facilities in Kyllini are well-developed, with a large selection of supermarkets and bakeries available to visiting sailors. The location serves as an excellent base for excursions to nearby Olympia, one of Greece's most significant archaeological sites. Olympia was home to the original Olympic Games for over a thousand years and makes an ideal day trip from the marina. The historic site features extensive ruins set in beautiful natural surroundings, including the remains of Zeus's temple with its tumbled columns and the great stadium where ancient athletes competed in various track and field events. Visitors can explore these chaotic yet impressive ruins and imagine the grandeur of the site during its ancient heyday. The combination of practical marina facilities and proximity to world-class historical attractions makes Kyllini an appealing stopover for yachts cruising the Western Greek coast.
