Description
Keros, Aegean, Greece is a nice place for lunch with clear water good for snorkeling, but access is prohibited. The islet lies near Koufonisia and is uninhabited today. In antiquity it was called Keria and had a pre-Cycladic civilization, with excavations finding marble statues, stone and ceramic utensils, obsidian blades, and graves now kept in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. It is believed by some to be the birthplace of Artemis, and religious celebrations may have taken place there. Later it was abandoned and used by pirates in the Middle Ages.
