Description

Kamiros Skala is a town pier in Rhodes, South Aegean, Greece, located at coordinates 36°16'22'' N, 27°49'29'' E. This small fishing harbor on the western coast of Rhodes serves primarily as the ferry terminal for boats to Chalki island, offering limited and challenging berthing opportunities for visiting yachts due to commercial traffic and swell conditions. Berthing and Facilities: POSSIBILITY to moor STERN-TO or ALONGSIDE the dock DURING THE NIGHT and when the TOURIST BOATS TO CHALKI ISLAND ARE ABSENT - timing is critical. USUALLY A LOT OF SWELL IS PRESENT - uncomfortable conditions are common, making this a marginal overnight stop. The dock is busy during the day with regular ferry services to Chalki, so yacht berthing is only practical outside ferry operating hours (typically evening through early morning). Diving center and restaurants available. Limited facilities for yachts. Kamiros Skala is located near the archaeological site of Ancient Kamiros, one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes, offering fascinating historical exploration opportunities. The area features several good fish tavernas serving fresh local catch. However, due to the persistent swell and ferry traffic, this is not recommended as a primary overnight destination unless weather is particularly calm or you have specific reasons to visit (ferry connection, visiting Ancient Kamiros ruins, etc.). Better anchorages and harbors are available elsewhere on Rhodes. VHF channel not specified. Note: If berthing here, maintain excellent fender protection due to swell and be prepared to depart early for morning ferry services.
