Description
Gyaros in the South Aegean, Greece, is an arid and treeless islet east of Kea and north of Syros. Ferries to Cycladic tourist destinations usually pass by. It has great historical significance as a place of exile, imprisonment, and torture for thousands of Greek communists, with over 22,000 political prisoners sent there in the second half of the 20th century.
