Eiland de Dode Hond is a town pier in Blaricum, Netherlands, located in the Noord-Holland region. This historic island in the Randmeren offers exceptional wildlife viewing and excellent berthing for longer vessels. Historical Significance: The OLDEST ISLAND, constructed as a WORKING ISLAND, of the Randmeren arouses curiosity about history and offers ANIMAL LIFE - unique combination of industrial heritage and natural sanctuary. Many BIRD SPECIES in particular can live here UNDISTURBED since the first construction of the island. That is why the island in nearby Bunschoten-Spakenburg is known as VOGELEILAND (Bird Island). In the local dialect 'Voegeleilangd' - testament to the rich bird populations thriving in this protected environment. Berthing and Location: The island is located on the territory of the municipality of Blaricum and is a POPULAR SAILING DESTINATION - well-known stop in the Randmeren cruising circuit. It offers especially LONG SHIPS A GOOD BERTH - advantageous for traditional botter ships and other lengthy vessels that struggle to find suitable mooring. Berthing capacity: 40 boats. Max draft: 2m.
