Description

Church Agios Sozon in southwest Naxos, Aegean, Greece, is a whitened chapel built on a steep rock above Agiassos Bay. It is accessible by foot from Agiassos beach or by boat. The cone-shaped dome chapel dates to the Byzantine era and was built as a vow after a shipwreck, with wine and oil placed in its foundations. Agios Sozon is traditionally regarded as the protector of sailors.
