Cala della Mortola, Capraia, Toscana, Italy, lies on the north-eastern coast of the island and its name means “cala del myrtle.” It is an uncontaminated cove of large round pebbles, the only real beach on the island and accessible only by sea. The coast is narrow and bordered by rocky cliffs with vegetation. Due to its small size, the beach appears and disappears depending on wind and storm surges. The sea is turquoise, crystalline and transparent, with a sloping seabed of light sand.
