Description
Baía de São Martinho do Porto in Leiria, Portugal, lies in an almost perfectly scallop-shaped bay with twin headlands guarding the Atlantic entrance. The beach crescent runs from the mouth of the Tornada River to the town at the northern end, backed by dunes that become more built up toward the town. The sea is virtually always calm because the bay is very sheltered, making it a popular haven for sailing with many boats in the lee of the headland. It is also a great choice for families and is sometimes called Praia das Crianças.
