Description

Agios Efstratios beach is a very nice bay in the North Aegean, Greece, with sand and good holding. The island of Agios Efstratios, also called Ai Stratis, lies between Lemnos and Lesvos and has about 300 inhabitants, mostly fishermen. There is only one village, Agios Efstratios, which kept its old Mediterranean charm despite the 1968 earthquake that destroyed many houses and led to prefabricated buildings. The island has lovely beaches such as Agios Antonios, Lemonies, and Avlakia, and small size makes it easy to explore on scenic trekking routes. Few tourist facilities exist, including rooms to rent, traditional coffee shops, and taverns, and access is by boat from Myrina on Lemnos or by ferry from Rafina in Attica and from Kavala in Northern Greece.
