It is not easy by day to distinguish the entrance to the bay when approaching from the northwest; however the monastery on the peak of the peninsula is a characteristic land mark. The harbour is situated on the western side of the bay and protected by a quay extending north to south. It is usually full of fishing caiques with only a few available berths near the head of the quay. Provides good protection in all weather barring strong southerlies when waves surge over the break water and create s
