Description

Port Veli Brijuni is located in Brijuni National Park and features approximately 50 berths along the north breakwater. Water depth ranges from 2.5 to 4m at the breakwater, with a maximum depth of 5.5m in the port. Sailing boats moor to the northern breakwater, while motor boats use the quay where the sea is shallower. Bigger yachts can berth stern-to the breakwater or anchor in the middle of the bay. Smaller yachts can moor along the coast from the breakwater. There is also a pier where tourist boats dock. Water and electricity connections are available only at the north breakwater and along the quay by Hotel Karmen. To navigate the waters of Brijuni National Park, you need permission from the National Park Administration. Upon dockage, boaters must check in at the reception desk in Hotel Neptun. Concierge service staff organizes excursions around the island and gala lunches or dinners at unique locations. When sailing to the Brijuni Islands, caution is required due to many shoals to the west, such as Gaz (3.6m) and Grunj (5.9m). Many passages between islands and islets are not accessible by bigger boats and can be dangerous to smaller boats. Strong NW winds require caution in the northern part of Fažana Strait, while strong SE and SW winds cause waves in the southern part. Anchoring is forbidden in the area SE from Veliki Brijun, from Cape Peneda and Cape Kumpar to Cape Kosir. Berthing rates are deliberately astronomically high to deter all but the wealthiest or most committed visitors. A cheaper alternative is a day excursion from Fažana or Pula, which includes a guided three-hour tour on a mini tourist train for approximately 200 kunas per person. Attractions on Brijuni Islands include safari park, ethno-park, archaeological sites with dinosaur footprints, remains of Roman villa rustica, archaeological museum, and golf course. Restaurants include Galija, Neptun and Venera in Hotel Neptun, Karmen Restaurant in Hotel Karmen (seasonal, summer only), and outdoor restaurants Plaža and Školjka.
